As a rough guide, the cost of ColliderCase base systems ranges from £7,000 to £12,000 across the standard sizes listed below.
On a like-for-like basis for the display of star objects, ColliderCase is equal to the cost of display and interpretation by traditional methods when all aspects are considered. Contact us and we can explain further about the value that ColliderCase represents.
Case sizes and digital display sizes go hand-in-hand. We offer a range of standard case and digital display sizes, but we also offer a bespoke case and digital display service too. If you require a non-standard size, please contact us.
Standard Sizes
All standard sizes are available in High Definition (1920 x 1080p) or Ultra High Definition (3840 x 2160p) resolutions. Although HD works for many applications, UHD gives the best results.
S Size - The digital display size in inches, measured across the diagonal.
VP Size - The perceived overall size of the digital media plane inside the case.
Case - W x H x D in mm - The suggested overall size of showcase, excluding support plinth.
Object - W x H x D in mm - A rough guide to how big your object or object group should be if it is the right size for this case. This is a very broad figure, please speak to us.
Non-Standard Sizes
There is no theoretical limit to the size of display, small or large. Please contact us if you want to explore non-standard sizes.
Audio
Audio can be added to any ColliderCase installation. Please contact us with your requirement, and we can tailor the audio installation to your needs.
Temperature and Residual Humidity
ColliderCase and iotaCase systems can be fitted with standard or conservation grade temperature and residual humidity sensors. Continuous data from the sensors is sent to the VirtualCase.net Control Centre, where realtime and historic data can be viewed securely from any internet-connected computer in the world.
Light
A light meter (luxmeter) can be fitted to ColliderCase and iotaCase systems. Continuous data from the sensor is sent to the VirtualCase.net Control Centre, where realtime and historic data can be viewed securely from any internet-connected computer in the world. The data can show lux levels as current readings or cumulative values. In combination with intelligent lighting control, explained here, this will open up new possibilities for the display of light sensitive objects. For example, objects can be illuminated only when someone is viewing the object, reducing the cumulative exposure, and potentially enabling a raised Lux level during viewing.
Sensors (General)
Please see the chart at the top of this page for standard display and case size options. Please get in touch for custom sizes.
Presence Detection
ColliderCase and iotaCase systems can be fitted with sensors that can detect the presence of a visitor at the case. Sophisticated audience engagement intelligence can easily be gleaned from the recorded data. How well is your display doing? Is it engaging with visitors in the way you had hoped? Click here to see how the powerful audience analytics can help you to prove or improve your displays.
Face Detection
Face Detection technology uses a tiny camera to measure the face looking at your display. It is possible to work out how old your viewer is, and what gender they are with a staggering degree of accuracy. Face Detection is a completely anonymous service that does not record or keep any information. Face Detection makes no effort to try and work out who your visitor actually is, and therefore respects their privacy and security. ColliderCase and iotaCase systems can be fitted with a Face Detection camera.
Extremely sophisticated audience engagement intelligence can easily be gleaned from the recorded data. Which age groups are not engaging with your display? Does engagement with your display have a gender bias? Click here to see how the powerful audience analytics can help you to prove or improve your displays.
Audiences can be targeted in two different ways:
Face Detection
Addition of the Face Detection sensor (see ‘Audience Engagement Sensor Options' on this page) enables you to target age ranges. When a media sequence is created for display with an object, it is possible to create alternative sequences with alternative content. By aiming the alternative sequences at a given age range, the right content can be delivered to the right audience group. Theoretically, the same targeting can be executed based on gender, although we haven’t yet seen a valid application for that option.
Tags (Necklaces and Stickers)
Sometimes it will be very useful to target audiences more directly. Perhaps you want to deliver content in the visitor’s native language, or provide large type versions for accessibility? ColliderCase systems can detect the presence of a number of different tags and stickers that can be given to your visitors at reception, according to their preferences.
The ColliderCase system does not effect the integrity of the showcase, and will not effect the manufacturer’s warranty. The safety and security of your displayed collection is not affected by the ColliderCase and iotaCase installations.
Alignment masks are a simple digital image file that is displayed in the case as part of the object placement process. By aligning your physical object with the virtual mask, you ensure that the relationship between the object and the virtual content is perfect, and repeatable if, say, you need to remove the object for any reason and therefore place the object in the case again. In the case of a touring exhibition or rapid turnaround exhibition, alignment masks are absolutely essential.
In many instances, it makes sense to add the cost of creating the mask for each object to the purchase price of the ColliderCase system. We create the masks for you, and guarantee they work. We have a portable photography unit that can visit your archive, stores or museum.
Once a mask is made an verified, it is stored safely on the cloud service for future use.
ColliderCase and the VirtualCase.net Control Centre are designed to work together. On VirtualCase.net you can assemble and distribute content packages to your ColliderCase installations.
When you purchase a ColliderCase system, we provide you with a set of bespoke slide templates that you can import into any graphic design package to create your own content. See the section on In-house Creation on this page to learn more about this route to creating stunning content in-house.
Alternatively, we can provide content as part of the service. See the videos in the sidebar to see the kind of high quality content we can create for you. The cost of content creation must be assessed once we know more about your objects, your stories and your assets.
One of the greatest strengths of ColliderCase and iotaCase is the ability to analyse visitor engagement. A simple yet powerful suite of analytical tools are available to you through the VirtualCase.net Control Centre. Follow this link to see how to evaluate your engagement with visitors yourself.
However, sometimes the personal touch is required. The Virtual Case Systems team are available to create custom reports on your engagement, delivering face to face and written reports, highlighting the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of engagement for you. This kind of executive summary and action plan can be incredibly helpful for busy museums. Face-to-face bespoke reporting prices can be obtained here.
The cost of subscription per case per year can be obtained here.
Why is there a subscription cost?
To provide the unique functions such as remote management and analytics, your installed case system regularly makes contact with your cloud based VirtualCase.net Control Centre. This is a software service, and requires upkeep.
What do I get for my subscription?
Today, you get the following unique and exciting features:
Your subscription means that you will always have the latest updates on the VirtualCase.net Control Centre. We are already working on a pipeline of innovative new features that we will add when testing is complete.
If you are a subscriber, you get our full attention, we will support you in any way we can. Our aim is to provide a very personal support service - we will always keep you running.
Aside from the subscription, the operating costs of ColliderCase systems are incurred in three ways:
Power Consumption
ColliderCase is designed with low power consumption characteristics. The LCD screen uses a low power LED light source, and consumes very little power during usage. Please contact us if you want detailed power consumption figures for your configuration.
WiFi Network
ColliderCase and iotaCase systems rely on a wired or wireless network accessible from the gallery. Power consumption of network systems differ, so we advise consulting your IT systems provider. We can provide an inexpensive WiFi network if you do not already have one. Cellular networking is also possible. Talk to us, we will make it work.
Hardware Maintenance Contract
Each ColliderCase and iotaCase system comes with a 12 month guarantee as standard. Please contact us for information about a hardware maintenance contract. For an annual fee, we can ensure that your hardware is permanently maintained and uptime is maximised.
